easy access drive from A1, value for money, all staff were friendly and helpful. We trusted HolidayInn breakfast quality, but dining option was marvelous. We chose half board, dinner credit? no. They offer 3 course meal .... but we couldn't reach dessert.... we were so full. not posh restaurant service like a little food on a plate, but they serve good presentation, well balanced nutrition and volume! another impressed service was complementary in room refreshments. tea coffee biscuits on top of that glass bottled still water sparkling water, tin of pepsi, warkers crisps and kitkat! Holiday Inn you are so generous!

I stay here regularly and thoroughly enjoy it. The reception staff are very kind and welcoming, I'm always greeted with a smile. On this stay I had a king room, the bed was huge and very comfortable. I slept like a log and woke up feeling refreshed. I went for the dinner, bed & breakfast option as I always do. The dinner was very good along with the service. as ever though, the stand out thing for me is the breakfast. so much choice and all perfectly cooked. Again, the staff at breakfast are very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone.

This hotel has a warm, friendly atmosphere, with truly wonderful staff who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. I loved the little reminders to smile scattered throughout—it adds a charming touch to the experience. The rooms are dated and a bit shabby but for the price you can’t complain. I did see a dog in reception so I’m guessing they may allow dogs in this hotel too although I can’t be certain I am just assuming. The breakfast was fab!!! Very delicious and again the staff are very friendly, exactly what you would expect from a hotel in the North East.

Attended for great north run also a wedding on that evening but in a separate room and dint nterefer with other guests, service was still excellent. Hotels decor a little tied but dont this put you off, bathrooms recently renewed and beds really comfy. Surprisingly food in the bar and grill was really good well above what I expected very tasty, guest had £22 meal deal and I has the £23 tapas option, ample portion sizes and very good quality. Really great. Breakfast was excellent, and put on fruit and water for runners in reception, nice touch.

Room was clean, tidy and perfect for the three of us to stay the night before the Great North Run. The hotel is super easy to access from major roads and there is no road noise despite this proximity. Plenty of parking as well. The breakfast range was great, the hotel had organised an early start for all of us running to give us plenty of time to get to the start, and also provided water and fruit to go, which was very thoughtful.
